Advertising on Netflix: How to avoid it?
Netflix launches an ad-supported subscription: a controversial offer
It's official: on Thursday, streaming giant Netflix announced the launch of a new ad-supported subscription in twelve countries, including France. From Thursday November 3, both existing and new Netflix subscribers will be able to sign up for this package for 5.99 euros a month, three euros less than the current basic package.
This new offer will force users to watch ads that will be broadcast in 2 different ways: at the start of a series or film, for a duration of 15 to 30 seconds, and in the middle of a program, for a total duration of 4 to 5 minutes per hour. In addition, for an episode of a series lasting around an hour, there will be a minimum of 4 minutes of advertising, i.e. 8 program breaks, or one ad every 7 minutes of content. [1] .
A mixed reception from the French
This new offer, widely decried on social networks, does indeed save money, but is still unpleasant for the French. Indeed, 75% of them like the platform's monthly subscriptions as they are, without advertising, and don't want to watch any of them [2].
Spliiit: a low-cost, ad-free solution
To save money and pay less for your Netflix subscription, without the hassle of advertising, other solutions exist.
Such is the case with the Spliiit platform, which aims to put subscription owners in touch with people wishing to subscribe. In this way, the subscription owner and co-subscribers can share the account, but above all, the fees, and benefit from a lower-cost service.
"Netflix's offer is certainly cheaper, but it comes with ads that can annoy users over the long term. After this announcement, the streaming giant was heavily criticized in comments on Facebook and Twitter, which shows that the French refuse to have to submit to advertising to get a cheaper subscription. Thanks to Spliiit, we're making it possible to split the monthly cost of Netflix subscriptions by avoiding ads for users," explains Jonathan Lalinec, co-founder of Spliiit.
With the Spliiit co-subscription offer, future users can enjoy Netflix for 5.08 euros by sharing their account with another user.
How does Spliiit work?
Once registered, users can offer one of their subscriptions, or subscribe to a co-subscription service. For the subscription holder, there's no need to chase after co-subscribers: each month, they pay their share directly on the platform. Everything is perfectly legal and secure. The start-up scrupulously respects the publishers' CGU and is accredited by the French banking regulator (ACPR). New subscribers will see their fees divided by 3 or 4 for their new subscription, unlike the rates offered by the various platforms. In fact, Spliiit saves users an average of 200 euros per year.
Spliiit today offers platforms such as: Netflix, Amazon prime, Apple Music, Nintendo Switch, Duolingo, Office 365, Spotify, Le Figaro ...
