Purchasing power: cut your bills by 200 euros with a co-subscription!

Inflation impacts French purchasing power

France is currently going through a period of inflation, not without consequences for purchasing power. The extra cost to the French budget is estimated at 90 euros per month. Taking into account the rise in incompressible costs such as fuel (+20%), energy (25%), and everyday consumer goods expected this summer (+7%).

In this context, even the slightest savings are welcome, particularly on leisure costs (SVOD subscriptions, music, reading, video games, wellness, etc.), so that you can continue to enjoy yourself without depriving yourself!

Co-subscription: a growing trend

In recent years, if the economy has moved from possession to use, it has also moved from ownership to sharing of goods and services. This is particularly true in France, a country that champions the sharing of subscription accounts. Here again, the figures speak for themselves: 90% of French people share their personal codes with friends and family[2]. Even better: 64% of 13-24 year-olds have already given a password to someone who doesn't live with them!

It was with these two observations in mind that Brice Vincent and Jonathan Lalinec launched Spliiit in 2019. Their aim: to make it easy and secure to share the price of a subscription and therefore save money on your bill.

How does Spliiit work?

Spliiit works very simply. Once you've registered, you need to indicate whether you want to offer or take out a subscription. You then specify your country of residence and choose the subscription you want to share or take out. For the subscription holder, there's no need to chase after co-subscribers: each month, they pay their share directly on the platform. Everything is perfectly legal and secure. The start-up scrupulously respects the publishers' CGU and is accredited by the French banking regulator (ACPR).

"Thanks to Spliiit, we enable homeowners to divide the monthly cost of a subscription by 2 or 3. The average monthly cost of a subscription on Spliiit is 3.41 euros, saving over 200 euros per spliiiter every year," says Guillaume Lochard, former COO of Spliiit.

A varied catalog to meet every need

In detail, Spliiit offers 130 shareable subscriptions in a dozen or so categories, from SVOD to video games, streaming music, software, cloud storage and the press. While the benefits are obvious for subscribers, they are less so for publishers: yet they are very real. Indeed, shared subscriptions enable them to reach new customer groups - the very ones who tend to bypass subscription systems - and reduce churn by 5-6 times. It also encourages a higher average basket per subscriber.
