Netflix rate increases: How can you continue to enjoy Netflix?

Streaming giant Netflix confirmed on Wednesday, October 18 that it has increased its subscription rates in France. From now on, Netflix subscribers will see a fairly substantial increase in their rates, putting an even greater burden on the wallets of the French in this period of inflation. [1].

The increase applies to two subscriptions, each with a €2 increase. In detail, the "Essentiel" subscription at €8.99 per month has risen to €10.99, while the "premium" subscription has increased from €17.99 to €19.99 per month. [2]. These increases come less than 6 months after Netflix introduced a pay-per-view system at the end of May. As a reminder, you now have to pay an additional €5.99 per month to be able to share your account.

Only the "standard with ads" and "standard" subscriptions remain unchanged at €5.99 per month with ads and €13.49 per month respectively. While these rates do indeed offer savings, they are still unpleasant for the French. In fact, according to a study conducted by Spliiit, 83% of French people are considering giving up their subscriptions because of the rate hike.

To save money and pay less for your Netflix subscription, other solutions exist. Such is the case with the Spliiit platform, which enables users to share the cost of their subscriptions by offering the remaining seats on their subscriptions to split the monthly fee.

" This latest increase in Netflix's subscription rates comes against an inflationary backdrop that is weighing heavily on the French. Users are once again being forced to pay a higher subscription fee to continue watching their favorite programs. With an increase of 2€, the French will certainly refuse to continue to subscribe to Netflix. In fact, according to our user survey last May, almost 83% of French people were already considering giving up some of their subscriptions because of the price increase. This percentage is likely to rise sharply with this new announcement. With Spliiit, we enable our users to share their Netflix subscription by splitting the monthly costs. A "Standard" subscription costs €10.73 on Spliiit, and a "Premium" subscription €10.99 for one user, which means real savings," explains Guillaume Lochard, co-founder of Spliiit.
